On December 14, the Annual Conference of Shanxi Society of Automotive Engineering and the 1st Shanxi Autonomous Smart Car Competition, hosted by Shanxi Society of Automotive Engineering and fully undertaken by Shanxi Haoyang Educational Instrument Technology Co., Ltd., concluded successfully in Yuci. Hundreds of experts and scholars from Shanxi’s automotive industry, universities and research institutions gathered to explore new development directions for intelligent connected vehicles and witness young students’ competition in intelligent technology innovation.

With the theme of “Empower through Intelligence, Create the Future of Automobiles”, the annual conference focused on technological breakthroughs, industrial implementation and talent training for new‑energy vehicles and smart mobility. Through keynote speeches, round‑table forums and technical achievement exhibitions, it built an all‑round exchange and cooperation platform for industry‑university‑research collaboration.

At the round‑table forum on industry‑university‑research collaborative innovation, representatives from automobile enterprises, universities and component manufacturers conducted in‑depth discussions on core topics including transformation of technical achievements and matching of talent supply and demand for intelligent vehicles. The General Manager of Shanxi Haoyang Educational Instrument pointed out that educational equipment serves as a key link connecting education chains and industrial chains. The enterprise is cooperating with universities to develop smart car training platforms, translating real‑world industrial technical requirements into teaching cases so that students can get access to cutting‑edge industrial technologies on campus. This concept was widely recognized by academic participants, and all parties reached consensus on jointly launching university‑enterprise courses and co‑building scientific research projects.

In the company’s address, it was mentioned that talent training constitutes the fundamental foundation for the intelligent transformation of the automotive industry. Taking bridging education and industry as its core mission, the enterprise leverages the communication bridge built by this annual conference to promote in‑depth integration of industry‑university‑research‑application within Shanxi, pool joint forces of industry, talents and technological innovation, and facilitate the upgrading of Shanxi’s automotive industry.

Held concurrently, the 1st Shanxi Autonomous Smart Car Competition adopted the theme “Autonomous Navigation · Collaborative Innovation”. It set five competition groups: Smart Medical Care, Baidu Smart Transportation, Full‑Model Group, Real‑Vehicle Road Group and Smart Transportation Sand Table Group, attracting 15 teams from multiple universities across Shanxi to compete. No on‑site guidance from instructors was allowed throughout the competition, comprehensively testing students’ capabilities in independent research & development, intelligent control and scenario adaptation.

Each competition group featured distinctive highlights: The Smart Medical Care Group simulated precise delivery of emergency supplies to test obstacle avoidance and high‑precision positioning of smart cars. The Baidu Smart Transportation Group adopted the Apollo autonomous driving platform to verify practical technologies such as vehicle‑road coordination, lane keeping and vehicle following. In the Full‑Model Group, students independently completed structural design, hardware assembly and algorithm programming, competing in multidisciplinary integrated innovation. The Real‑Vehicle Road Group simulated real‑world road conditions including curves, ramps and sudden obstacles to examine environmental perception and real‑time decision‑making performance. The Smart Transportation Sand Table Group was based on a miniature traffic road network, assessing multi‑vehicle collaborative scheduling, congestion avoidance and accurate docking capabilities.

After fierce competition, first, second and third prizes were awarded for each of the five groups. Shanxi Haoyang Educational Instrument provided competition bonuses for all winning teams to encourage students to promote learning and innovation through competitions. As the organizer of the event, the company delivered full‑scale professional technical support, customized competition venues and testing systems to guarantee smooth operation of the contest.

Adhering to the purpose of “Promote Learning and Innovation through Competitions”, this competition has built a high‑quality platform for youth scientific and technological innovation in Shanxi’s intelligent automobile sector and effectively stimulated young talents’ innovation vitality. In the future, Shanxi Haoyang Educational Instrument will stick to its development philosophy of “Integrity, Professionalism, Innovation and Win‑Win Cooperation”, deepen strategic cooperation with Shanxi Society of Automotive Engineering, keep focusing on engineering education equipment, and deliver integrated teaching solutions including industry‑oriented training platforms and joint university‑enterprise courses for universities. It will build a talent‑training closed loop of “Competition‑Training‑Employment” and continuously supply high‑quality scientific and technological talents and innovative impetus for the intelligent and high‑end upgrading of Shanxi’s automotive industry.
